Name: Meruhen, Kinosei
Alias: The Fairytale Ninja
Rank: Genin
Gender: Female
Age: 12 years old
Village: Konohagakure no Sato
Clan: N/A
Appearance: Some people would say she was a pretty girl. Some people would claim she was cute, maybe even adorable. Maybe she is. Kinosei certainly doesn't care either way. In build many would call her scrawny, and she really is. She doesn't even look like she'd be up to standards as far as a kunoichi goes, but that doesn't seem to stop her. While one can see her bones a bit more than you'd expect, its only because of her own nature. Still, she isn't rail thin, and she does appear healthy... She's just not a muscular type of girl. Some would even go so far as to hint at the fact that she'll be 'willowy' when she reaches adulthood. Kinosei likes to scoff at them.
Her eyes are large in her face, and her most striking natural feature due to their vivid blue color. Her facial structure is rounded yet leads to a daintily pointed chin, adding to the overall affect of her strange and eccentric charm. Her face was made for expression, and it easily translates into the rest of her body. Kinosei doesn't do anything by halves! Though her stature is on the shorter side, it doesn't stop her in the least.
Kinosei keeps her straight black hair cropped short, and has a tendency to dye streaks of outrages colors into the back strands, her favorite seems to be lime green...
Her choice in clothing can be questionable as well. For a top she wears a simple tank-top like shirt with horizontal red striping that cuts off mid torso, bearing her stomach and back, over the top of it she does a vivid yellow jacket of similar length, though it does cover her arms, perhaps a little to much considering a constant fight to keep her hands from disappearing! Her favored style of bottom wear is a sort of heavy pants, usually of a looser variety in black, leather like material. Her ninja sandals are black as well, though they look like someones taken a lime green and vivid yellow marker to them at some time.
Favored accessories for the girl include earrings. As of the moment she can't seem to figure out what to do with her hitae-ate, and the bit of black material with it's marked plate is often seen dangling from one of her belt loops like a rag...
Personality: In a nutshell most people would find Kinosei to be downright annoying. She's loud, brash, and obnoxious. She doesn't know when to hold her tongue, and it often seems like the filter between her brain, and her mouth is turned off. On purpose, of course. It's quite obvious that she takes great joy in saying whats on her mind, and when she talks everyone knows it. Kinosei 'talks' with her whole body: She gestures, and paces, and shifts. She's relentless in getting her point across even if she has to invade some poor fools personal space to do it... And raise her voice to ear shattering decibels.
Though her actions for the most part make her come off as a stupid child, the truth is that Kinosei is actually a very bright girl. Her attitude, however, has the tendency to make people overlook the rather keen mind behind her big blue eyes.
When left to her own devices Kinosei's actually a rather quiet girl. She loves nothing more than to sequester herself among texts. Stories, are her favorite things in the world. Oh, don't get her wrong, Kinosei doesn't like just any form of text. She finds some things rather boring and refuses them out right.. No, Kinosei prefers a certain kind of text: Stories, fables, folk lore, fairytales... Those were the things she preferred.
Kinosei loves to loose herself in the fantasy of them. She's always dreamed about one day going on some grand adventure, and she wants nothing more than to be like the characters in her tales. Kinosei wants to be a hero. Unfortunately the fact that she's drowned herself so completely in her tales has made her into something of a naive little girl: She doesn't realize that reality is harsh. Everything is tinted with the bright welcoming glow of adventure in her eyes.
One has to wonder if she'll be able to survive the shock of going out into the real world... Hopefully the apparent resilience of her nature isn't a lie.

Weapons: Kunai/Senbon/Exploding Tags/Shuriken: Kinosei possess a scattering of regular ninja equipment, and uses them as the need is perceived.
Story Book: Her main "weapon" is a large book. It is a sort of soft leather brown in color on the covers, inlaid with swirling gold designs, over the spine, and front and back covers. The only other adornment is that of the front cover: The monogatari kanji in gold. She wears the book across her shoulders like a backpack, and it seems to be heavily infused with chakra. Upon opening it, one would discover the pages to be blank.
Main fighting style: Kinosei uses a rather... odd fighting style to say the least. She's something like a chameleon of the ninja world, and her attacks reflect that in their ever shifting manner. Her jutsu style reflects this as well. She seems to have created a style all her own, and she calls it her "Seals."
Using the basics of jutsu and chakra control she releases "seals" that are apparently connected to the massive book she has, and calls on the "powers" of the heroes in her fairy tales.
Rather than calling her fighting styles such she calls them "Stories"
In example: First Story: Seal of the Hare This jutsu gives her fast reflexes and high speed, and the fighting style is that of quick kicks, and lots of dodging movement.
As her power improves she will gain other "stories" and thus more "seals"
Each "story" also has a "Master Seal" which is basically the supreme seal of that particular style/story.
Fighting strength/weakness While the truth is that none of the power is really her own, in a way, it is true that it takes massive amounts of control and stamina to pull off what she does. Get her book away from her, and she's just a basic level kunoichi, really.
Team members: I'll add them once she actually, y'know, meets them in RP.
Friends/family: Meruhen, Akihiko: A renowned scholar, and something of a hermit. Akihiko owns a large collection of delicate scrolls... His home and collection are hidden somewhere in the depths of Fire Countries forest where he lives with his Wife and Daughter. Some say that Akihiko was once a very powerful aspiring ninja, but gave it up suddenly to retire to his books.
Meruhen, Miyuki: A simple woman, with a simple pleasure. Miyuki loves to cook, clean, and grow things. She brings her cooked, and grown food into Konoha regularly to sell, when she runs her errands. She seems content with life, even if that life means living in isolation in the forest.
Other companions: N/A

Character history: Meruhen, Akihiko was once a ninja. He was strong, and smart, and brave, and true... He'd never really wanted to be a ninja, but he happened to be one... He'd always liked to be a scholar, instead... But, as things go he ended up a ninja. He was a good enough ninja, and he made Konoha proud. He did the best of his abilities, really. Then one day, Akihiko was injured very badly during a battle! He managed to get away, but only just, and he was found by a farmer's daughter, and she took the brace shinobi back to her father's home and tended to his wounds. Many days and nights passed, and while Miyuki was no princess Akihiko came to adore her kind and gentle nature.
As things go Akihiko eventually recovered, and had to return to Konoha, but he promised to see Miyuki again one day.
He did to, he'd visit the pretty Miyuki when the chance arose, and as the months became longer and headed toward years Akihiko found himself falling in love with her! Decision made on his next visit Akihiko decided to ask the farmer for his daughter's hand in marriage.
"No." Said the farmer. "I will not have my wonderful, sweet, kind, daughter wed a ninja. It is much to dangerous!"
Heart broken Akihiko bid his beloved fair well and returned to Konoha with a promise to visit again. Another decision came to him, and Akihiko retired as a ninja... He would now follow the path he wanted! Returning to the village where his beloved Miyuki lived he once more asked the farmer for her hand.
"I said I will not have my daughter wed a ninja!" said the farmer.
"I am not a ninja." proclaimed Akihiko. "I am a scholar."
Now the farmer was surprised, for this brave shinobi had given up his livelihood, and for his daughter no less. Still...
"I will only agree if you have a stable home for my daughter!" said the farmer.
Akihiko agreed, as this was only fair. Spirits lifted he bid his beloved good bye again, and went to commission a home for them. Several months passe, but soon it was finished and he returned to ask once more for his beloved's hand in marriage...
This time the farmer agreed, and Akihiko and Miyuki were wed! They went to live in a secluded home not so far outside of Konoha, surrounded by protections contrived by the shinobi mind that still resided in Akihiko. Theres was a happy life, and not so long after the pair were blessed with a child...
They had a sweet little daughter whom they named Kinosei, and she was the light in their world!
As the years passed Kinosei grew up into a bright young girl, and started to join her mother on her trips to Konoha. Now Konoha was a strange and wonderful place to young Kinosei: her first adventure, just like the heroes in the stories she read!
One time while she was in town she was sitting and reading one of her favorite books when another child approached her, the child scoffed at her book and asked: "Why are you reading?! Reading is so boring!"
Offended Kinosei frowned and gave an emphatic "Is not!"
The whole thing had attracted other kids and soon they were all chanting and teasing the girl "Bookworm, bookworm, boring little bookworm!"
Upset, Kinosei ran to her mother crying, and told her what they'd said. Miyuki comforted her daughter, and simply said; "Well, you'll just have to show them you're not boring, Kinosei."
The next time they were in town, Kinosei did just that. She showed them she was not, in fact, boring. She left her books at home and approached them.
"I'm not a boring bookworm," She proclaimed. "You're just to dull to realize that!"
Upset at this rebuke her former tormentor proclaimed, "Yeah, well I'm gonna be a NINJA!"
Not really sure what the fuss about being a ninja was, Kinosei scoffed; "Well, I'm going to be a hero." she retorted and went back to her mother. "What's a ninja?" she asked her mother.
Miyuki told her daughter all about the shinobi, and what they did. Kinosei realized that ninja were like heroes, maybe even were heroes... and so that night at dinner she announced "I'm going to be a ninja."
Flabbergasted her parents didn't know what to say, but agreed to let her attend the academy.
She did well in her studies, and though her teachers often complained she was a nuisance she passed quite soon.
And now, the real heroes journey begins....
