Name: Akiyama, Hiiro
Alias: None
Rank: Jounin
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Village: Sunagakure
Clan: Akiyama Clan
Appearance: Standing at a rather decent height of 6’6" Hiiro is a rather imposing figure, and built to fit that view. While not muscled in a way that could be called heavy, its more aptly described as corded. His built type is lean, but proportionate. With broad shoulders, and chest, narrower hips, and long legs; Though in comparisons to Umeko Haru, Hiiro’s build is almost ‘stocky’ in the proportions. He certainly isn’t built for speed like the more lithe Leiko, or hit-and-run attacks like the lighter muscled Haru. Instead Hiiro appears to be built for defense and power. His skin has retained a surprisingly pale complexion despite the sunny climate of the desert in which he lives, and is only discolored by the oddly green tinge that seems to pervade it. The points where his veins are closer to the skin the more of the green is visible, rather than the blue hue most people have where their veins show through. Hiiro’s hair is styled in a rather well-kept but messy design. It seems to fall however it will, yet still looking choppy but elegant: Like it was meant to grow in wild disorder and it suits him in that manner. The coloring of it is a deep, rosy red in coloration, which is odd when compared to the simple cool brown of his eyes. His facial features, for that matter, are rather aquiline with a straight sharp nose, a rather thin serious mouth, and high cheek bones that give him an indolently proud appearance.
Unlike most shinobi, and perhaps more like those of Suna, Hiiro naturally prefers lighter colors in his clothing. His favorite choices in color seem to be earthy, and neutral in tone with splashes of red. He dresses lightly, but seems to cover more skin despite how much remains visible due to his choice of clothing. For a top Hiiro tends to wear nothing but white bandaging winding up around his stomach ending about halfway up his chest. His main top wear, however, consists of a sort of light weight ‘coat’ of sorts. The most usual appearance of this garment is that of a white top with long flowing sleeves that grow wider the closer to his hands they come, a red vine pattern adorns the hem of the sleeves, as well as down around the actual hem that reaches down to his knees. The collar is high, and slightly stiff reaching up to his jaw line. A long stiff leather strap crosses diagonally across his chest, holding the material of his ‘overcoat’ to him, attached to this belt of sorts is Hiiro’s preferred weapon, a 3 foot katana. His Suna Hitai-ate can be seen tied here around the sheath of his katana.
His legs are covered in soft, lightweight material that is a pale tawny color, like sand. These pants are loose from around the point of his hips to a few inches below his knees where they are plastered tightly to his calves by the use of more white bandaging which preceeds to his ankles, and around the 'bridge' of each foot as Hiiro doesn't wear shoes. Similar to the one crossing his chest another belt hangs around his hip, to which is attached the standard issue ninja pouch in which he keeps the smaller weapons of his arsenal, or in Hiiro’s case a variety of seeds, and other flora. The only other thing of note is the bandaging around his hands. It extends from the first knuckle of each finger over his hand, and to about mid forearm.
Special body armor: None
Personality: Hiiro is by nature a quiet person; he rarely talks and when he does he is nothing but polite. He seems to stringently adhere to the saying ‘If you’ve got nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all.’ That of course, does not mean he won’t tell you what he thinks of you if he doesn’t like you, he just isn’t particularly comfortable speaking to other human beings. That, perhaps, is one of the oddest things about the Akiyama: Hiiro does not understand people. In fact he seems to be completely confused by them and tries to avoid as much interaction with those he doesn’t know as possible. This can, often, cause problems as his intense silence can be seen as rather insulting. He never means for it to be seen this way, but with his lack of insight to the human nature he figures he’d be more insulting if he did speak. To compound this fact is his rather strange way of talking. Hiiro tends to refer to things almost as though he were a plant himself, seeing human children as ‘saplings’ and ‘seeds’ or ‘sprouts.’ The power base of any country is often thought of as the ‘trunk’ of that country. Yes, his terminology is quite strange, to be sure.
His nature is often the most laid-back of the three-man cell he was put in, and always the most serious of them. Hiiro is almost never seen to be smiling, and when he does it is but the tiniest of smiles. In fact, expressions are something totally uncommon on this particular shinobi’s face. He is almost always blank faced though he is more likely to be seen frowning than giving anyone a warm smile.
While Hiiro enjoys a rather warm relationship with his family, and is definitely close to his friends his best relationship is by far the one he enjoys with his Kira-Kusaki. He sees the largest of these mutated plants as his mother, more than he sees the one who actually gave birth to him. These sometimes terrifying plants are his truest family, and he sees them as such. On the same side of this coin Hiiro rarely ever reveals the stranger quirks of his nature, or really anything at all. His quiet nature adds to the enigma that he is, and almost no one knows what lays behind the stoic youth’s outward appearance.
Hiiro is a generally kind hearted being, and doesn’t much enjoy the suffering of others, and tends to stay away from the act of confrontation much of the time. He is, however, protective of those close to him, and will do his best to see to their well being despite his own inability to comprehend their baser natures.
The, perhaps, most confusing aspect of Hiiro is that he absolutely abhors the country he serves. He hates Suna, and the desert with an almighty passion, and would love nothing more than to tear the whole place down around their heads. He has never, and probably never will understand the fascination one of his friends has for the dry barren expanse. While he holds a great deal of respect and adoration for the few Suna residents he is close to, he sees the rest of them as nothing more than ‘Sand Lice’ and would probably have left the desert long before now if not for his own sense of duty and honor. All in all, Akiyama Hiiro is a strange presence of contradictory thought processes.

Taijutsu: Basic
Doujutsu:
Hijutsu:
Kinjutsu:
Weapons: Katana: One of the only conventional weapon’s Hiiro carries, this 3 foot long sword is kept strapped diagonally across his back.
Leaves: Where most ninja’s keep kunai, senbon and other such materials in their weapon pouches Hiiro has leaves. These are often utilized as effective cutting tools.
Plant Thorns/Needles: See Leaves. Used much like senbon, but are much more effective for his battle style.
Flower Petals: See Leaves. Used much the same as leaves, but are also used in different types of jutsu.
Seeds: Packets of seeds are kept around his person, and he can exert chakra to force them to sprout and grow extremely fast creating a thicket of plants where there wasn’t one before. Main fighting style: Hiiro uses a fighting style that relies mostly on Defensive maneuvers and distance.
His style over all speaks of infinite patience, stamina, and strength. When he moves he's movements are surprisingly fluid, and there is never any wasted energy. While not particularly fast, he has strong defensive, and offensive capabilities, and in particular, stamina. He's likely to outlast many an opponent.
---- Basically his fighting style for close combat consists of him 'planting' himself, and staying put. Hardly moving at all, and basically deflecting or parrying the attacks as they come at him, and attacking when his opponent is close. A lot like a plant.
Fighting strength: Genjutsu and defensive maneuvers. He uses all plant life to his advantage, and while he is a dab hand with his katana his style is one that mostly relies on long distance combat: He isn’t particularly fond of getting up close and often uses traps and other distance based maneuvers to insure his victory.
Fighting weakness: Fire type attacks can easily wipe out his preferential weapons in the form of plants, and getting in close can also use up most of his maneuvers. Night time can be a good time to attack due to the Akiyama’s natural ‘sluggishness’ at that hour, though of course he’s more controlled in this nature what with being a shinobi.
Team members: Sumiyaka, Leiko: The usually brash Princess of the Sumiyaka. Met during their academy days she’s become a fast friend to Hiiro, and one he finds he can talk rather easily with. Given she’s always hard to get on with, but she’s still a firm friend. Now that she’s gone missing he finds himself feeling more alone than ever do to the loss of his two best friends.
Umeko, Haru: Hiiro’s best friend, and a boy he’s known since he entered the academy. Haru was Hiiro’s first friend, and eventually led to the friendship he formed with Leiko. Hiiro was hit extremely hard by the death of his friend, and has withdrawn into himself even more, finding his already present hate for the ‘Sand Lice’ to be burning brighter than ever.
Sumiyaka, Shuji: Leiko, Hiiro, and Haru’s jounin Sensei. A good teacher and a member of the Sumiyaka clan.
Friends/family: Akiyama, Akako: Mother Akiyama, Tomi: Father Akiyama, Jiro: Older Brother Akiyama, Taro: Older brother, Deceased Akiyama, Akina: Sister-in-law, Married to Jiro Akiyama, Kisho: Nephew Akiyama, Kiku: Neice
Usagiku, Yaki: A girl he met through Leiko had has found a growing sense of like and attraction forming for. He’s really quite taken with her.
Other companions: The Kira-Kusaki: The Kira-Kusaki are massive flesh eating plants that were bred and engineered by Hiiro’s older brother, Taro, for use in Shinobi combat at the Akiyama style. He always has some of the smaller plants on his person, and even sometimes has the Queen plant with him.

History: Hiiro was born into the hustle and bustle of the Akiyama house hold without much fanfare at all; just the third son, another son. It wasn’t until he was a toddler that it was realized that there was something special about him, though only Taro really noticed. Taro was, at the time, already a Chuunin and whenever he was home he spent time couped up on the rooftop of the Flower shop with the plants, working on a sort of secret project that he had sequestered away; the rest of the family never really bothered him. Taro was breeding a sort of ‘Ninja Plant’ that could function something like to Dogs of the Inuzuka, or the Bugs of the Aburame. He had, in fact, produced the first such plant a little over two years ago shortly after Hiiro’s birth, and had simply been spending time with the growing plant, and the few ‘children’ it had produced.
In any case, on one such day when Taro had sequestered himself with his plants he didn’t quite close the door all the way and a 3 year old Hiiro toddled onto the roof, following after his favorite big brother. Taro didn’t notice his youngest sibling until it was to late, and Hiiro had stumbled into the reach of the killer plant. The youngster tripped over one of the large roots, and began crying getting both the attention of the plant and Taro. Fearing the worst Taro watched in horror as the big plant focused on his little brother, but the strike he feared never happened. Instead the plant loosened it’s root, and used it to help the 3 year old stand. For a moment Taro wondered if he had created a gentle monster, rather than the fighting beast he had wanted. Making no mention of Hiiro’s escapade, Taro simply returned the toddler to his room.
However, when he later decided to show his creation to his father, the plant nearly took off the man’s hand, it was then that Taro realized there was something special about Hiiro, and despite a few protests from their parents he began to take Hiiro with him when he visited the plants. By the time Hiiro was 5 years old, he spent nearly all of his time with the plants, which had thrived in his presence, growing, and reproducing until they were countless, though none ever got as big as the first ‘Queen’ plant.
Taro was mildly disturbed when he found his youngest sibling referring to the Queen as Okaasan; as Mother.
However, before Taro could really investigate this phenomena he was killed in action. Hiiro would never forget that day, for it was at once the worst and best of his life. It would always be the day when a man had come to their shop to inform the Akiyama of their oldest sons death. Taro had been the closest to Hiiro of his human family, and Hiiro had respected, loved, and looked up to his brother: He had wanted to be just like him. The loss hit him hard. It was, however, also the day when Okaasan first spoke to him.
Hiiro fled to the roof and the comfort of his ‘family’ the Kira-Kusaki in tears, falling among the cushioning and comforting hold of the vines where he sobbed in grief. He cried long, and hard and only began to slow his tears when a soft strange voice seemed to speak from everywhere and nowhere
-Child. My Child. Mine… Oh, my child…-
Confused, and surprised Hiiro looked for the source, and found nothing at first until he looked up to find the massive bulb like head of the Queen Plant hovering just above him, swaying slightly. He could feel both distress at his own pain, and the intense need to comfort flowing from the Queen as well as the small plants.
Staring, he uttered an awed "Okaasan?"
The plant nuzzled against him, the vines rising upward to wrap around him, and draw him into a caccooning embrace. The words of the great plant echoing in his mind as ‘she’ continued to croon to him.
It was because of Taro’s death that Hiiro enrolled into the Ninja academy. He wanted to be like Taro, to uphold his brother’s memory and honor. Though he hated leaving the proximity of the Kira-kusaki he found that he could take many of the small plants with him: They wrapped around his body beneath his clothing, and through them he could always communicate to Okaasan, as all the of the plants were connected back to her.
In the academy Hiiro was the sort of child to stay in the back, and get the good grades. He didn’t really play with the other kids, because he never had: He’d always been with the plants or his brother, humanity had never really been part of the equation. As a result no one really bothered to approach him, and he was left to his own devices for the most part. He wasn’t the only one either, as he had noticed a girl had a similar attitude.
It wasn’t until a week or so later that his world was shaken up by the arrival of a slightly late classmate: Umeko Haru. Haru blew into his life like a windstorm, claiming the seat between Hiiro and the quiet girl, and with his talkative nature drew them together until they became friends. The girl, he found was Sumiyaka Leiko, and she was only ‘quiet’ because she was busy studying while in class, Hiiro soon found out that she was just as loud as Haru was, though a lot more rude. Haru, from the very get-go was apparently amused by her prickly nature.
While these humans were odd, Hiiro found himself liking them, and soon became very good friends with the pair. The Kira-Kusaki seemed to be delighted that their Human sibling had more friends.
After they became genin under Shuji-sensei Leiko introduced the two boys to another friend of hers, Usagiku Yaki. Hiiro was immediately struck by something about the girl, and found himself hopelessly curious, but much to shy to even begin getting to know her. Over the years his curiosity has developed into a crush, and while at times he tries to make an attempt he has a hard time being anything but polite, and she seems oblivious to his feelings. Little did he know that Leiko and Haru find endless amusement in the whole thing.
Eventually the group became Chuunin, though it took them two attempts. It was a rocky time for them, with Leiko on the outs with their family, but things settled quick enough with Haru to keep them glued together and optimistic.
That all changed one day when everything came rocketing down around their heads. The Sumiyaka were attacked, and the end result found many dead or wounded including young Seiichii, and Haru. Without the binding factor the team was left with it’s two most distant members, and shortly Leiko left Suna, becoming a Nukenin. Hiiro often feels a great deal of guilt over this, thinking he could have done more.
Right after Leiko disappeared Hiiro was bumped to Jounin status, both out of skill, and necessity. He knew the missing Sumiyaka very well, and they wanted him to go and track her down: However, Suna did not have the manpower for the mission, and so he would be on his own.
Hiiro went out, without a word unable to really do much else: The fact was he didn’t really try all that hard to find her, if Leiko felt that this was what she needed to do then he would support her. He stayed away long enough to make it seem like he had tried before returning to Suna.
What is the next step in this tale? Only time will tell.
Roleplay Sample: I might actually get around to writing his version of events someday. Did I start and save it somewhere...? I can't remember...
Ah well, until then this'll be empty >_>
