Sword of Truth RP is set at the same time as the novels by Terry Goodkind, and is similar in many ways, but has one crucial difference. That is that Richard Rahl does not exist.
Every other character in the books is unaffected. But with Richard out of the picture, there are alot of changes. For example, the Towers of Perdition never fell, because the Sisters of the Light never took Richard to the Old World. That means that the Old World and the New World never renewed the Great War, and The Imperial Army is safe on the other side of the boundary. Which is good for the New World, but very bad for the Old World. Nothing to be done about it, though.
Since the Old World is now gone (for our purposes only; it's still there, we just can't interact with it, the same as for the last three thousand years) alot of the characters other than Richard are not playable as well. Nicci, Jagang, The Sisters of the Light, and all the rest of the people from the Old World are out.
But the boundaries between Westland and the Midlands, and the Midlands and D'Hara have fallen. Since these portions of the veil that Zedd summoned up from the underworld were weakening anyway, and did not fall because of Richard, this is still plausible. Now, Darken Rahl is attacking the Midlands and Westland with his country of D'Hara, hoping to conquer the whole of the New World. Kahlan Amnell, as the leader of the Midlands Alliance, is fighting back, but Westland is in a state of chaos, as it has next to no magic, and D'Hara is much more powerful.
So choose: do you wish to conquer the world with D'Hara? Fight for peace with the Midlands? Or rise up and become a leader of Westland?
Are you a Wizard, a Sorceress, a Witch Woman, a soldier, or a civilian?
Decide, and fight. No one can get out of this.
